Corrosion behavior of age hardening aluminum alloys produced by high-energy ball milling

چکیده

The influence of high energy-ball milling (HEBM) on corrosion and hardness age hardening aluminum alloys was investigated. Nanocrystalline (AA2024, AA6061 AA7075) were produced by HEBM pre-alloyed powder subsequent cold compaction under uniaxial pressure 3 GPa. Cyclic potentiodynamic polarization immersion tests conducted in 0.6 M NaCl solution which revealed significantly increased pitting protection potentials the compared to wrought same composition. X-ray diffraction analysis transmission electron microscopy indicated grain refinement below 100 nm ball milled major strengthening mechanism alloys. superior resistance attributed nanocrystalline structure, extended solid solubility homogenous microstructure- free from coarse intermetallic phases.

Aluminum and its alloys have a lot of industrial applications due to their appropriate physical and chemical characteristics. However, those present a modest mechanical performance. One method to improve its strenght is the addition of hard insoluble particles as: carbides (Al4C3, TiC), oxides (Al2O3) or nitrides (TiN, AlN), which can difficult the dislocation movement at atomic level, resultin...

Formation of glassy Ti50Cu20Ni24Si4B2 alloy by high-energy ball milling

The elemental powder mixtures with a nominal composition of Ti50Cu20Ni24Si4B2 can be amorphized under high-energy ball milling. A well-defined glass transition before crystallization appears in the obtained amorphous phase during heating in a differential scanning calorimeter. Awide supercooled liquid region DTx is available to be about 57 K. Crystallization of the ballmilled amorphous phase wa...
